Skills

Skills are acquired progressively over the three years, and by the end of the programme, graduates will be able to:

Competency 1: Design an experimental approach within the context of scientific inquiry in biotechnology. Graduates will have learnt to utilise living organisms or their components in research, development, bioproduction and quality control.

Skill 2: Implement the established approach and interpret the results. Graduates will be able to:
• master good laboratory practice
• implement a protocol
• collect, organise and validate experimental data
• analyse experimental results using basic statistical methods
• interpret results, suggest improvements where necessary, and situate their results within the context of previous and future work

Competency 3: Operate in a professional environment. The graduate will have developed personal and professional skills and will be able to:

• successfully enter the workforce
• understand the diversity of the professional world
• find their place within the host organisation
• understand the rights and responsibilities of employees
• organise their work both within a team and independently, taking constraints into account
• communicate appropriately with their colleagues, using a variety of media

Learning outcome targets

The aim of the Professional Bachelor’s degree is to prepare students for entry into the workforce after three years of higher education as engineering assistants or senior laboratory technicians in various sectors, including biotechnology, healthcare, food and the environment, and in roles within Research and Development, Production and Quality Control.

Admission

Target audience

To enter the first year (LP1): secondary school pupils and students who hold a technological or general baccalaureate, have an interest in biology/biotechnology, and wish to pursue a vocational degree programme leading to a three-year degree.

To enter the second year (LP2): students who have successfully completed a first year of a science degree (60 ECTS) and wish to pursue a three-year professional degree programme.

To enter the third year (LP3): second-year students enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or equivalent, who have successfully completed 120 ECTS and wish to enter the workforce after three years of study.
