L2 Histoire - Site Evry
The History degree combines a solid general education in history (and related disciplines) with more specific training ("courses") tailored to each student's career plans. The knowledge and skills acquired prepare students for professional life.
The skills developed within the diploma are as follows: Acquisition of sound knowledge, methods of analysis and interpretation, mastery of tools, ability to synthesize.
Options are available in the first semester (Latin or Mastering French) and in the second semester (one class to be chosen from Economics, Political Sociology and Social History of a non-European area; two classes to be chosen from Latin, Mastering French and Geography). These options help prepare students for their choice of course in L3.
The History degree requires a good disciplinary knowledge, a taste for reading all types of sources (texts, images, archaeology, monuments, etc.) and a mastery of writing, working and reasoning methods. Rigor is also a prerequisite for historical criticism and the methodology specific to history. Curiosity about foreign cultures is a plus. Last but not least, a high level of motivation, backed up by a career plan in line with the course requirements, will be a key selection criterion.
For entry into second year, validation of a first year in generalist humanities degree with optional history courses is strongly recommended.
Supervised research project in the second semester. There is also the option of an internship in the second semester.
